At what’s probably my favourite red carpet event of the year, actresses and models alike stepped out looking their very best. The Cannes Film Festival (pronounced “can”) is held annually and previews films of all genres from all around the world. The festival is an invitation only event and always held in May. You would have to be living under a rock if you haven’t seen at least one headline about what someone stepped out in at the festival this year, as the celebs have taken their fashion to a whole new level.
Firstly and unsurprisingly, Blake Lively. How does she do this??? No other woman can conquer pregnancy style like Blake does and somehow make it look effortless. The blue Versace dress stole the show and made headlines everywhere. I highly recommend taking a look at all her outfits she wore this year and previous years at Cannes as she owns it every time. This year Blake has been documenting her time at Cannes on Instagram and if you’re not following her then you’re seriously missing out; she’s hilarious. The link to her profile is here.
Secondly, Bella Hadid. This was her first time at Cannes and no matter how intimidating that red carpet is for a first timer, Bella owned it. She first walked it in Roberto Cavalli for the Cafe Society premiere and looked undeniably beautiful. This was after having a private luncheon at Château de La Colle Noire, Christian Dior’s old residence, for which she wore a chic white Dior dress. However, the sexy red gown she wore to the premiere of The Unknown Girl by Alexandre Vauthier Couture stole the show. The gown showed off her supermodel body and even though some say the dress it too revealing, I think she looked incredible. It’s fair to say that the Hadid sisters have the best genes anyone could have.
I have never been a fan of Kristin Stewart’s red carpet choices, however, thats all changed now. At Cannes, Kristen has looked amazing every time she’s stepped out, still keeping her grungy roots intact. Having Chanel at your finger tips does make for an easy wardrobe choice I will admit. She paired a Chanel skirt with a t-shirt at the Cafe Society premiere which was very Kristen and managed to look chic and suitable for the red carpet at the same time. If she continues to dress like this, I will quickly become a big fan of hers on the red carpet.
The final woman is Elle Fanning. This year has definitely been her year on the red carpet. She stunned at the Met Gala and hasn’t put a foot out of place at Cannes. She wore this peacock Valentino gown to the amfAR Gala and completely stole the show. I am so in love with every aspect of this look!
