Best of the MET 2016

The fact that the Met Gala occurred just days after I left New York kills me, but I did walk those exact same steps which makes me feel a little better. The Met Gala, also known as the Met Ball, is held annually on the first Monday in May, as a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Tickets this year cost $30,000 each (!!!), but that doesn’t mean that if you have the money you can go; the event is invitation only and Anna Wintour has the final say in who gets to attend. Bottom line is, unless you’re a supermodel, designer or friend of Wintour’s, your name is not on that list.

This years exhibition theme is “ManusxMachina, fashion in an age of technology”, which is about how designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine made in Haute Couture and ready-to-wear. The initial list of my favourite looks was well over 30 but I managed to shrink it down to 12; the best of the best.

Kendall Jenner in Atelier Versace. Killing it as always, Kendal looking amazing from head to toe. Her slicked back high pony complemented the dress and let it do all the talking. The cut made her figure look even more incredible and I love the colours of the dress.

Kate Bosworth in Dolce and Gabbana. This dress immediately caught my eye, it’s so beautiful and fits the theme appropriately. Kate is such a babe as well and she really rocked the dress.

Saoirse Ronan in Christopher Kane. This is a dress that you’re going to love or hate; I personally love it. It’s fitting for the theme and really suits Saoirse. This girl continues to make good choices on the red carpet with looks that make her stand out.

Brie Larson in Proenza. I love love love this look! the dress is so flattering, the material is so eye catching and her dark lip went perfectly with the look!

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton. I didn’t think I would love a short dress like this on the red carpet, but with the combat boots, this look actually works really well.

Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton. I love the dress, I love the shoes and I love her face. Alicia has done everything right. The dress really suits the theme and the colours all work really well with eachother.

Lily-Rose Depp in Chanel. This is one of my favourite looks. The dress is so chic and elegant and the bomber jacket is the perfect accessory. I love the detailing on the dress and the shape of the dress itself. Not to mention that Lily is a mega babe!

Cindy Crawford in Balmain. This is the reason she is a supermodel. The dress shows off her incredible figure and works perfectly for this event. Keep slaying Cindy!

Nicole Kidman in Alexander McQueen. This dress is everything! It totally fits the theme and I love all the detailing, especially the cape.

Gigi Hadid in Tommy Hilfiger. She came with perhaps the best accessory out of everyone…her bf. Gigi is no stranger to best dressed lists, she never seems to go wrong, but with a face and body like hers it’s hard to look bad in anything really.

Blake Lively in Burberry. The list would not be complete without Blake on it, she has nailed it once again. The back of the dress is my favourite part, the colours and the details are all so beautiful. This dress is a dream.

Elle Fanning in Thakoon. Saving the best for last, Elle looked stunning, to be honest I didn’t recognise her at first glance. The dress has such an elegant cut and the colour complements her skin so well. Her dainty jewellery, minimal makeup and slicked back hair work so well with the look, there is not one thing I don’t like about it. This look was definitely my favourite!

So there it is! It’s been so long since I’ve posted, but I’ve just been super busy lately. I’ll hopefully get a post up about my New York trip within the next week!
